Hibond™ 80 by Dimond® Structural
Structurally sound design with Dimond®
Dimond® Structural has formally introduced a competitive new steel structural flooring system to market known as Hibond™ 80. Dimond® Structural recognising the need to make it easy for engineers to design and specify composite flooring systems have included with the new system a comprehensive intuitive design software to tackle the hard stuff. This is a great opportunity to offer designers and builders choice when it comes to metal decking systems, as it drives economy in the built environment.
Composite steel flooring, or metal decking as it is otherwise known, is used in the construction of multi-level buildings. The decking is designed to be placed on structural beams to create a platform to which additional reinforcing mesh is added and then concrete is poured on top to create the concrete slab. Composite steel flooring systems provide a cost-effective building system which is lightweight, easy to install and dependable.
Hibond™ 80 was developed in New Zealand using unique arch-shaped ribs to provide large un-propped spans, providing dependable and robust performance. This product builds on the integrity and trust of Dimond ’s long-standing presence in the market.
“Hibond 80’s new design software has been developed in conjunction with the Heavy Engineering Research Association (HERA) and has capabilities that give Dimond Structural the edge over others,” says Fletcher Steel’s Innovation Manager Ian McClew.
Fletcher Steel’s National Specification Manager Mike Klemick and Innovation Manager Ian McClew, both, worked on the software development and are pleased with the outcome.
“The software is really versatile and intuitive, as well as easy to use” says Mike.
“The software tackles the hard stuff for design efficiency with single, multiple span and cantilever configurations for the construction stage and the composite stage, along with the flexibility to analyse unequal spans in one application.”
Design issues are also highlighted with warnings as you go, allowing ease of tracking and analysis as design decisions are made.
Minimal tabular inputs help guide through the design, producing extensive graphical outputs, all encapsulated as a complete PDF document.
The design methodology can be selected to AS/NZS 2327 or Eurocode 4 using structural properties established by testing to EN 1993-1-3 and EN 1994-1-1.
